Weekly Movie Forcening #8 (And #9)

This week, Will and I went to see the new Alice in Wonderland. It was okay. It’s been quite a while since I’ve been that excited about or by a Tim Burton movie, and this one had a lot in common with his Charlie And The Chocolate Factory: it looked really cool, but the story was, to put it kindly, not that tightly plotted. Helena Bonham Carter was great; Johnny Depp was fine; Mia Wasikowska had surprisingly little to do, in my view, given that she was the title character. I can’t really recommend it.

And as for next week: there’s no poll for you to vote in, because we got to go see a screening of Green Zone last week. We decided to take advantage of the long lead time to do our recap as a podcast, which went up today. It has a couple of spoilers, so if you want to save it until after you’ve seen the movie, I’ll say: the movie is good. I recommend it. It’s a good, well-paced, suspenseful conspiracy thriller, and Matt Damon is so easy to root for.

Is there any way you can repost the podcast so non-Americans can hear it? I’m in Taiwan!

Not at the moment, unfortunately, but soon!
