Well, I didn’t take any photos on Day 2 for reasons that will become clear when you listen to the Day 2 podcast. And I’m too tired to upload the few I took today for reasons that will become clear when you listen to the Day 3 podcast (which will probably go live tomorrow; our connection here is too slow for Dave to upload it). You can look at Dave’s, though. And I promise we will be fully caught up tomorrow.

So I’m not sure where you’re banking, but maybe you should switch! Lots of US banks sound local (eg, Washington Mutual) but have actually spread across the country. Bank of America, ironically, is impossible to find in some places! Also, I can’t remember the last time I put a deposit slip in an ATM envelope. I write my account number on the checks, the total amount on the envelope (which I assume is some kind of security/double-check thing) and that’s it. I actually got into an argument about this with an old man in an ATM vestibule once, because he was very upset that he couldn’t find deposit slips and refused to believe me that he didn’t need one.

Wow even so that is crazy how much you have to do to deposit a cheque. In Canada if you deposit a cheque in the ATM, you don’t even need to sign the back of it for it to go through.
My husband and I are leaving Bank of American for WaMu for reasons that are too long to explain but involve much, much hatred on our part. Gah.
A dumpling is flour and milk and baking powder and fat–butter, margarine, or lard–basically a biscuit. Rather than being baked, it is dropped on top of a stew or soup and steamed.
I’m listening to the whole first week at once.
