I thought I knew true happiness the morning after the So You Think You Can Dance finale, when I picked up my phone and saw the text from Pam informing me that Adam Shankman had just announced Step Up 3D. But that’s before I found out about Center Stage 2! Of all the awesomely terrible teen-targeted dance movies I’ve seen in my time — that would be all of them — that I would have expected to rate a sequel, I would have ranked Center Stage somewhere below Stomp The Yard and Take The Lead (both of which I saw in the theatre, WITH PAM). But Pam already thinks we somehow caused Step Up 3D to happen by means of The Secret (the weekend I went to L.A. just to watch Step Up 2 The Streets with her, we did cause Save The Last Dance to appear on TBS), and with Center Stage 2 now on the horizon, it’s clear we are the reason formulaic dance movies exist.

The only problem with Centerstage 2 is that it’s going straight to video. I was so bummed.
