A couple of months ago, I wrote here about how surprised I was to have a sympathetic reaction over George W. Bush’s shitty approval ratings (which I believe have only gotten shittier in the two and a half months that have passed since then). But I should have trusted in his ability to continue doing dumb-assed things that would make me loathe him. First, there was this item, about the end of the G-8 summit, at which he apparently used goodbyes as his opportunity to smirk, “Goodbye from the world’s biggest polluter”:
He then punched the air while grinning widely, as the rest of those present including Gordon Brown and Nicolas Sarkozy looked on in shock.
Now, I have to think that story isn’t true (it is the Telegraph, after all), but the part of me that knows it actually probably is is all the more outraged and disgusted by this second item, describing a write-in campaign for the ‘08 presidential election, being organized by people who believe Bush is “God’s candidate.” I assume there is some crossover between the write-in people — who impatiently wave off any talk of the Constitution by reminding us, “Presidential term limits are not in the Bible” — and those who want us to get off Cain’s back for marrying his sister.

Gotta fuck something.
And this is why I have no problem with the negative approval ratings even though he’s on his way out. He’s not a bumbling idiot who knows he’s in over his head. He’s not even a man with beliefs different from mine trying to make the best decisions for the country based on his own moral code. He is a child that wants attention. This man has never grown up and has never had to face any consequences from his actions. He enjoys fucking the country and the world over because then at least they’re noticing him. It takes less effort than figuring out what the right thing to do is, plus he gets to feel like he’s in control, instead of being controlled. His entire presidency has been this power struggle happening in his own mind.
1) I think that all right-minded people should heartily support this write-in campaign. What could be better than people who are this out of touch with reality neutralizing their own vote?
2) That Cain thing totally baffles me. As I recall, Cain got in his spot of trouble for, you know, murdering his brother and then lying to God about it, not so much for marrying his sister. Who else was he supposed to marry? Also, people who can’t understand non-biblically-based morality hurt my head.
