Nick & Norah’s Infinite Gayness

I realize I’m old (I was informed of this again last night when I started to describe Smiley Face, a movie about a cheery stoner girl, by saying “Anna Faris plays a selfish asshole who eats all her roommate’s cupcakes and then doesn’t pay the electricity bill!”), but doesn’t it seem like Nick & Norah’s Infinite Playlist was made from a treatment that was assembled by a focus group, and then handed off to get scripted by Penny Marshall, right after she watched the trailer for Juno? Because it’s for the kids! With their texting and their emo bands.

Also, I like Arrested Development as much as the next guy, but I am going to have to boycott Michael Cera’s career until he knocks it off with all the movies where he just mopes around in a hoodie.

I don’t know how faithful they’re going to stay to the book, but it’s really not that moody. It’s actually pretty manic and hilarious.

See, I think what you say is true, and further I have this odd feeling that this movie has been designed so that I, 18-29 liberal urban woman who owns a blog, will want to go on dates to it. The sad part is…I do! I think it looks totally charming!

I feel kind of weird about this.
