I had already heard from Dave that Mandy Patinkin was apparently a member of our gym (and, yes, Adam’s already made the joke that he committed to a workout but then left early to spend more time with his family), but today I saw two others: Dann Florek of the various Law & Ordereses, and Scott Cohen, a.k.a. Max Medina. Having also spotted Scott Patterson a couple of times at our gym in Toronto, I’ve now worked out with two of Lorelai Gilmore’s long-term boyfriends. David Sutcliffe and Chris Eigeman: it’s your move.

Sorry New York, I spotted David Sutcliffe in my yoga class in Santa Monica during the strike. With a pornstache, ew.
Gross. How was his form?
Quite good actually. There’s a yoga-guru called Bryan Kest I kept hearing about, so I went (open to all levels and no fee (by donation only)). Pornstache was 2 mats away from me and I couldn’t stop staring. He was wearing shorts and had hot legs. The memory is fading (it was mid-February) but I think also that he did not have a shirt on, which I remember being quite pleasant indeed. It was like 100 degrees in the room. We all had sweat pouring off of us. I wonder if he’ll show up in a role with the stache or if it was grown from boredom during the strike.
My cousin-in-law has chatted with Scott Cohen at the juice bar of the gym. SC invited him to come to his play at The Public Theater.
On the other hand, his wife had to tell him who SC was.
Scott Cohen worked out at my gym when he was filming in Toronto. Totally unassuming and friendly.
I saw Mark Whalberg going into my new gym on Bloor Street on Saturday. I would have checked out his workout style, but I was not going IN to the gym when I saw him. I’m never going in to the gym. Anyway, I had heard a bunch of stories about him being in Toronto for a film and how he was cruising in a Hummer on Queen Street. Hilarious. He didn’t have a huge entourage or anything when I saw him and was in tear-aways. I remember thinking he is way cuter in real life than in the movies.
Whalberg is here shooting Max Payne. Word is he is the sweetest guy. Also, Tara, remind me to tell you my dinner with Mandy Patinkin story.
Tell it now, Uncle Bryan, tell it now!
Just because you’ve been a good girl Sarah. Well Mandy was in Toronto shooting some MOW and my best friend was in it as well. They became chummy and because it was Canadian Thanksgiving, and he didnt know anyone else, she invited him for dinner. So me, my friend and her daughter (who was 10) and her four sisters had turkey with Mandy. He brought the biggest gift basket I’ve ever seen and was really nice. He told great stories about NY when he was at Julliard, including being hit on all the time by Rudolf Nuryev, and asked us many questions about our lives, the Canadian government, health care etc.
The defining moment was when the 10 yr old asked him to say his famous line from Princess Bride, and he got up and did it with such gusto. A real gentleman. I hear he’s a little crusty from other people, but that night he was lovely.
I’m supposed to be doing my taxes right now, but the fangirl part of my visual brain is still stuck on “Having also spotted Scott Patterson a couple of times at our gym. . .” Even if he is old and cranky, just not as much as Mandy P. My accountant curses you.
Aw. I love it when famous people are also nice people.
