Speaking of overly elevated pre-sold expectations…Footballers Wive$. This is a show that EW can’t stop raving about, so now that the rest of the world is probably already over it, sure, why not try airing it BBC Canada? Stupid Canadians don’t hear spoilers! (Actually, I haven’t. Don’t tell me any.) I will be watching the first two episodes, this Sunday night (check local listings!), but the dollar sign in the title is how it warns me that it’s going to suck, right? Like The $treet? And where’s the apostrophe on “Footballers””? If I’m getting this hung up on syntax, maybe this isn’t the show for me.

They aired it on Showcase for awhile, Sunday afternoons. It wasn’t that good, except some of the guys are hot. It’s no Coronation Street that’s for sure.
Do not do it! Just don’t watch it. It really is bad. At first I thought it was so bad it was good, but on further reflection it was just awful. I stopped after first series, but even that was too much.
It is bad. But addictive. Even when you know in your heart of hearts that you are losing valuable brain cells by watching, you can’t stop. Well, I couldn’t anyway. I watched the first season this summer and I have the second on my Blockbuster waiting list. You’re right though, Wing, the dollar sign in the title is obnoxious!!
Since they’re in the UK, I don’t know why it isn’t Footba££ers Wives.
