Seeing a celebrity today reminded me of how long it had been since I had given a celebrity report. Some recent sightings:
- Jennifer Westfeldt: on Broadway in the 80s, with hair just as pretty as when she’s on Notes From The Underbelly (that was today’s)
- Garrison Keillor: on Columbus Avenue
- Diane Sawyer and Mike Nichols: at The Seafarer on Friday night (and in seats only four rows better than ours)
- David Hyde Pierce: on Broadway in the 60s
In December or January, I also happened to be riding the subway with Kyra Sedgwick, and when we both got off the train and went up to the street, I finally saw her go into a building and confirmed that she (and, I assume, the also frequently sighted Kevin Bacon) are our neighbours. Around Christmas I was near sightings of Rebecca DeMornay and John Carroll Lynch, but didn’t actually spot them myself.
At 30 Rock, I saw Darrell Hammond in the elevator once. But on my very last day at the office, I had my best sighting of all: walking back to the office from the ladies’ room, I came face to face with Conan O’Brien leaving the gym, still all sweaty and everything, and he looked me in the eye and said “Hi.” I’m sure it was just as cool for him as it was for me.

Oooh! Tom Brokaw in the elevator today. He was talking about walking his dog(s). Is there anything better than a celebrity having a really pedestrian conversation?
Ooh, Kyra! I always wondered why TWOP never recapped The Closer - I suppose it’s not kosher to inquire about that now, right?
Chris March (Project Runway, human hair) was on my bus last night, and I know so few people who will care.
Sedgwick and Bacon are my neighbors, too. Does the transitive property apply here?
Oh yeah, we saw Chris March at the movies on New Year’s Day.
I’ll have to tell you about my Garrison Keillor sighting some time.
I think I’ve heard other people’s versions of it, actually. Hee.
