Blue Christmas

I won’t bum everyone out with the whole sad story, but the short version is that Dave and I were supposed to go back to Toronto for the holidays. Maybe you’ve heard (or experienced it yourselves), but the weather’s kind of screwed up people’s plans.  After two days and three cancelled flights at two different airports (and, between cabs to and from the airport and two nights of our Toronto hotel reservation that we wouldn’t be using, lost cash expenditures in the mid-three figures), we finally decided to cut our losses and resign ourselves to not seeing our closest family members for the holidays this year.

This, among other things, is what I’ll be missing.

I followed the tradgedy on Twitter and was seriously bummed for you guys. My husband and I are also spending the holiday solo, because when you work retail, they don’t care how far away your family lives, even if you only work 1 day of the 5 you want off.

I’m glad you won against Travelocity, though.

Aw, that photo breaks my heart with its sweetness. I’m sorry you won’t be seeing the Toronto gang for Chirstmas.

Now that you’ve decided to stop trying to win over an unjust god and the forces of nature, I hope you guys can relax and have a happy holiday.

Aw, that sucks! Our flight from Vancouver to Calgary on Christmas Eve was delayed by like 7 hours (thank god it was on Westjet, Air Canada summarily cancelled everything). It came close though, they had to get us on a different plane. And we watched a lot of people’s Christmases get ruined as the flights around us were cancelled — including the flight that I was originally booked on but had switched off of the night before — it was a pretty long, terrible day. But at least ours had a happy ending.
