I was also traumatized by the same scene. I remember my whole family went to a football game and I stayed home alone to watch V and saw that scene and promptly hid under the bed until everyone got home.
I can’t believe my parents let me watch it. The alien baby looked like The Thing but tiny – but even though it scared me I knew they were going to kill it and that upset me even more.
The lead human was hot though. At least he was back then…
Yeah, I think I’m gonna have to hate Will. I have V and V: The Final Battle on VHS. Does Will know what VHS is?
Adam, yes. During my trip to the Smithsonian last fall I think I saw them in their “things that old people used” display case. They recorded things on TAPE!? Wild, wild stuff.
I think the V people ate guinea pigs whole or something before they started in on the humans. Not sure because after the twins were born, I wasn’t allowed to watch anymore of it. It was definitely broadcast too early in the evening because there is a whole generation of people around my age who were completely traumatized by this miniseries. I was 8 or 9 I think. I think they may have even shown the lizard tongue baby in the promo trailers. Hee!
I have vivid memories of watching this with my dad and being horrified and fascinated as Diana unhinged her jaw to eat an animal whole. It was scary and awesome and I don’t know why my parents saw no problem with their 10 year old watching every week, even though they Fantasy Island considered too racy and scary just a couple of years earlier.
