You could tell Kim that 2/3 of the world’s men are not circumcised and have no trouble with it – and their partners love them just the way they are. That there are serious ethical issues involved in cutting healthy, functional, non-renewable genital tissue from a non-consenting person. That it would be illegal to do an exactly equivalent operation – or even a token pinprick – on a baby girl, and boys deserve no less protection. That the rate in the US is now down around 55% so he’ll have plenty like him in the locker-room. (But which condition would you rather have to explain if he comes home and asks why the others are different?) That the medical issues haven’t convinced a single national medical organisation to recommend it. That she should watch a video of it being done (such as this one from Stanford University) before she calls it “a snip” of “a little flap of skin”.
But that’s what she’s been reading.
But ^maybe that’s …
Sure, the point of my post was obviously that we should all use this space to hash out the question.
ZING!
