A Price Above Boatnecks

Sarah and I spotted Renée Zellweger shopping in the J. Crew store at the Time Warner Center on Saturday. The other time I spotted her was on the sidewalk about a block away from there, so I assume she lives in the vicinity. She was seriously pawing through the shirts at the same table as Sarah, who totally didn’t recognize her at all, even when I stood directly behind Zellweger and pointed at her with my pinkie, though Sarah defended her obliviousness by saying that Zellweger was invisible because she’d turned to the side, which is not entirely inaccurate. Zellweger actually looked kind of like she does in the photo at right, actually — in workout gear, and with short VERY blonde hair in desperate need of a hot oil treatment. She did look very thin to me, but I’ve certainly seen thinner ladies in New York — particularly the tiny bantamweight Park Avenue dowagers I see whenever I go to the salon at Bergdorf Goodman, getting the fifteen hairs left on their heads dyed titian red again because we’re all totally fooled by that.
